[DOSMILVINT-I-U] [DOSMILVINT-I-TRES] = 1 encuentro

Curated by Julia Castelló and Ali A Maderuelo

‘[DOSMILVINT-I-U] [DOSMILVINT-I-TRES] = 1 meeting’ is the name of the last action of the first edition of Art i Context. Between October 2021 and June 2023, more than 25 proposals have been activated in the form of workshops, conferences, performances, mediations or collaborations that have taken place in different spaces, both inside and outside the museum and online, and have generated connections between different layers of the Valencian context. The members of the first edition of the programme are Diego Navarro and Darío Alva, Claudia Dyboski, Marina González Guerreiro, Álvaro Porras and M Reme Silvestre. The framework in which his practice is inscribed can be understood as a reaction to the instability of the present and the process of abstraction of contemporary reality. Reaction that takes shape through the use of digital tools, the construction of escapist narratives of a speculative nature, the vindication of the manual or the critical revision of historical processes. The exhibition continues the same idea that has articulated the programme, understood as a generational encounter, a space for the exchange of influences and references beyond the museum. The biannual programme Art i Context proposes an opening of the research and production process of a group of artists related to the Valencian context and selected by a curatorial team invited by IVAM. The exhibition is therefore conceived as another exercise within the public openings of the programme, an open and non-conclusive process, a vindication of the momentum of gestation of the works as an element that generates meaning. Behind whoever is reading this text right now can see a rhizomatic representation of all the voices and actions that have passed through and taken place in Art i Context, as well as a series of artefacts that have been appearing over the course of the two years, as a consequence of the work of the artists of this first edition. Curated by Ali A Maderuelo and Julia Castelló.
