Luis Adelantado is pleased to present Mulholland Drive, a project by the artist Álex Marco in which, in an unprecedented way, he interweaves audiovisual language with the pictorial medium as a result of his most immediate experience with the environment.
This exhibition covers the four floors of the gallery, configuring a place through which we must progress blindly, following the spatial logic of the marks scattered across the surface. As if it were archaeology, the viewer must glide through the fossils of gestures that make up the exhibition, stains on the asphalt of a cracked road, tar and traces of skateboarding produced by contact with the surface of the canvas, act as incarnate shadows, making visible the design that is hidden in every gesture, like a trace where time is imprinted due to the adherence caused by the image.
This tactile reading of surfaces turns floor, canvas and screen into an incessant exploration in which the action of painting becomes the main driving force as the provider of a certain order on the plane of the feasible. However, the images form, on the same level as language, inscriptions in which the accumulated dirt, flaws and paint stains serve to record the complex memorial processes that are hidden in all gestures.
