Luis Adelantado is pleased to invite you to Lunaria Annua, the first solo exhibition of Italian artist Meris Angioletti at our gallery.
The project presented by Meris Angioletti studies the point of encounter between the subtle and the rea—which sometimes remains hidden before us—, the esoteric and the profane.
That alchemy is one of the key concepts of her work. For Lunaria Annua, she prepared a sculptural piece, a series of rayograms and several installation works. Among them, we can find piece VIII, a metal piece of furniture inspired by the table that appears in the Le Bataleur (the magician) card from the tarot. In the original card, the mystical table has only three legs. The fourth leg is out of sight and is sensed as a metaphysical space represented by a series of blocks of salt.
Additionally, we find the installation Le grand Jeu – Partition in which a certain rhythm is developed through the materials that make up this assembly: paint, copper, brass and linoleum. Finally, we see the rayographs titled D-76, with a series of organic objects that result in attractive abstract forms. The title is linked to the renowned photographic company Kodak and the developing chemical that the artist uses to bring images onto paper. The word developing has a double meaning, that of the photographic process and metaphysical inspiration.
