Boiler Room. Aproximación a la pintura desde Jusep Torres Campalans

Luis Adelantado is pleased to present the exhibition Aproximación a la pintura desde Jusep Torres Campalans by Misha Bies Golas at Boiler Room. The exhibition revolves around the conception of painting itself, and is articulated around the basic questions faced by the author. These questions are mainly about what to paint, and what to paint for.
Starting from these basic premises regarding the intentionality and nature of painting, Misha bases his work on the reading of the work by Max Aub that gives the exhibition its title -Jusep Torres Campalans-, as well as on his personal archive, from which he rescues a history of graphic materials.
The installation is made up of a series of documents, posters and pamphlets that allude to the exhibition area, material collected by the artist over the years, and which on this occasion he uses as a support.
The plates that make up the installation show a series of texts from the green notebook that appears in Max Aub’s novel. In this enigmatic notebook attributed to the painter Jusep Torres Campalans – a literary creation by Aub, which crossed the frontiers of literature into reality – are collected various reflections and aphorisms on painting and life in relation to art. Many of them have a markedly ironic character that verges on the surrealist. Misha rescues these aphorisms and brings them to light in this exhibition, which brings together many exhibitions at the same time.
