Javi Cruz (Madrid, 1985) studied at universities in Madrid (UCM), Granada (UGR), Utrecht (HKU) and Oxford (Oxford University). He was part of the programming team at the Teatro Pradillo and co-directs the Bosque Real platform.
He collaborates on stage productions with artists such as Cris Blanco, María Jerez, Nyamnyam, Óscar Bueno, Laura Ramírez Ashbaugh, Paz Rojo and Cuqui Jerez, presenting pieces on the national and European circuit.
In recent years, he has been a regular on the Madrid circuit, competing in the singles Trémula at the CA2M (curated by Manuel Segade and Tania Pardo in 2021), venue where she has also taken part in the group exhibitions Flor Hispania (curated by David Bestué in 2025), To want to seem night (Carlos Fernández Pello and Beatriz Alonso in 2019) and the Picnic Sessions (Bwelkeke in 2022), Flor de mayo (the duo with David Horvitz at La Casa Encendida, curated by This is Jackalope in 2021), La colina rota (with José Venditti) at the Reina Sofía Museum and featuring the Fina hoja de metal (curated by Javier Martín Jiménez in 2023) in a courtyard of Conde Duque. He began in 2022 his representation by the Galería Luis Adelantado in Valencia, where he exhibited his project Kobold, and has collaborated with other galleries such as Espacio Mínimo or Belmonte, where the foundation the dialogue Andrés Izquierdo which extends as far as Amuleto.
He was part of the team that represented Spain at the last Quadrennial of Scenography in Prague and has collaborated with institutions such as Fabra i Coats, Mercat de les Flors, the Patio Herreriano Museum and Artium.
In 2025, he is artist in residence at La Caldera (Barcelona) and is preparing his participation in Europalia as curator and artist at MuHKA (Antwerp).
