Luis Adelantado is pleased to present the first exhibition of Yvonne Robert in the gallery, which is entitled Colour Me and will take place in the Boiler Room.
In Colour Me Yvonne Robert presents her recent works, a series of acrylic on canvas with abstract motifs, where the relationship between form and colour, expressionism and maximum reduction predominate. His production allows an intuitive access to painting without the need to contextualise his work in a specific place, making it unique. The pictorial language she develops is a way of expressive liberation that tries to move away from conventional forms. With this intention, the artist seeks to establish a relationship with the viewer in which – through the pictorial forms of her works- the viewer can construct his or her own imaginary.
Yvonne Robert came to painting in an experimental way , developing a language close to abstraction, always strongly influenced by the colours of the world of fashion and social networks. The changing nature of her works shows that for her painting is not something static but that the gestural takes on a fundamental weight in her creative development. Thus, she generates a set of personal images – which she begins through her preparatory drawings – and which are transformed as she constructs her compositions. For Yvonne “The challenge is to produce a reduced image without making it look ordinary”.
About the artist
Yvonne Robert, born in Germany, lives in Zurich where she has been working for several years. She is an artist, illustrator and graphic designer. Her work comprises mainly abstract paintings in acrylic on canvas. In 1999 she founded the agency Büro4 with three other partners, where she works as a graphic designer and illustrator. Currently she has exhibited at institutions such as Kunstsalon, Zurich (2018) and in group exhibitions at Artshop Prachtwerk, Zurich (2017/2018) or Casino Affoltern a.A., Zurich (2017).
