The gallery Luis Adelantado Valencia, is pleased to invite you to the upcoming opening of the CALL XVIII ( International Call for Young Artists ) which will take place on 7 July. In line with previous years, hundreds of artistic proposals have been received, of which 17 have been selected by Olga Adelantado, the director of the gallery.
As a novelty in this edition, one of the artists selected for the CALL will be awarded with a solo exhibition for the Boiler Room space in July 2017.
A majority of the selected artists – 11 of them – are of Spanish origin. Specifically, of this selection, four belong to the Valencian Community. Two Argentinean artists, one North American artist and three other artists of Luxembourgish, Dutch and Serbian origin have also been selected.
The selected artists work from painting -Alejandro Botubol, Martín Piolatti and Carlos Correcher- to collage -Sejma Ferré and Manel Ros- and photography -Iñaki Domingo, Jesús Eloy-. Sculpture and installation are also represented -Daniel Jordán, Sali Muller, María León, Alejandro Ginés, Rosa Rubio, Florencia Caiazza, Hilde Onis and Elia Núñez- and finally video art with Ana Esteve Reig and Sali Muller.
Regarding the selection, as Olga says, “It is never easy to choose between so many and so diverse projects. However, we do notice a gradual professionalisation of artists at younger and younger ages, a fact that I am proud of, and that in the medium term will also favour the art system “.
