Luis Adelantado Valencia is pleased to present the second exhibition of the Valencian artist Jorge Peris at the gallery; Olmo 2017.
Jorge proposes two installations that complement each other conceptually, like two sides of the same coin. They start from a common point, an axis marked by the zenithal representation of the golden ratio, which crosses the top two floors of the gallery tracing a series of connections that draw a sequence, a coherence, a logic.
In the installation called Olmo, salt drives energy and life. Salt as a reference to origins, to a sea that accompanies you like an indelible memory, has a defining presence in his work. Jorge traces paths along which the salt runs and draws a sequence that measures the universe, from the monumental to the minute.
In relation to all these tensions generated in Olmo, we also find an Italian art nouveau staircase that expands its steps in one of the gallery’s rooms. It constitutes an authentic wrought iron fortress, with impossible cantilevers, and a play of balances that refers us to a poetics of the spiral, present throughout the Olmo 2017 project.
