For the seventeenth edition of Call (International Call for Young Artists), a total of 18 proposals have been selected from the more than 500 proposals submitted. The selection of the participating artists has been in charge of the director of the gallery Olga Adelantado.
For Adelantado, this year the presentation of dossiers has been similar to last year, as he explains: “we have noticed that the quality of the proposals has increased considerably, which indicates a greater professionalisation of the artists that we have been observing in previous editions”. And he adds: “It is also worth highlighting the quality of the proposals from Spanish artists compared to other years, a total of 13 artists, of which 7 are from the Valencian Community. The Spaniards are followed by the Peruvian presence with two artists, and the selection is completed by a French artist, a German artist and a Swiss artist. A total of 20 artists and 18 proposals”.
The artistic background of the participants is very diverse and plural, although their age ranges from 24 to 36 years, many of them, despite being in the first stage of their careers, already have an outstanding career with presence in galleries and institutions, a symptom of their rigorousness and professional involvement. Some of them have already received important awards and mentions. The media they use to express themselves in their work are as diverse and wide-ranging as their backgrounds. They range from photography, drawing, painting, intervention, collage, installation and sculptural objects.
