Luis Adelantado is pleased to present the artist Camila Oliveira Fairclough (Rio de Janeiro, 1979), with her first exhibition in the Valencian gallery; Un Dos One Two a pictorial project that she will present in the main space of the gallery.
Camila Oliveira Fairclough works around the idea of painting, understood in a broad sense. She reflects through her canvases – more than fifteen canvases, all of them in different formats – in which she captures enveloping surfaces of colour, with phrases that emanate from her daily life, her experiences, her interests and her experience. The artist understands language as form, as something objectual that transcends the two dimensions of the canvas. She is very interested in the relationship between words as objects and the content they contain.
For the exhibition Un Dos One Two the artist focuses her attention on a series of phrases that relate to the body in movement. These phrases evoke movement, an ethereal imaginary in which dance has a latent presence. The words thus become a kind of image with its own autonomy, which, as the artist points out, are related to each other. In fact, she is very interested in the dialogue that is created between them, both in terms of content and form.
To quote the artist herself: “My approach to abstraction is closely linked to the Brazilian neo-concrete movement. With artists like Hélio Oiticica and Lygia Clark, who start from geometry and colour as a natural path towards spatial conception, the object and performance. They absorbed the avant-garde in a very intuitive way. I feel close to this non-dogmatic, more experimental attitude.
