Bio

Álex Marco (Valencia,1986) is a visual artist who develops his work through painting, video-experimentation and graphic design, making use of both digital and analogue formats. His art practice revolves around the reinterpretation of urban spaces, perceiving them as media that can be altered by painterly habits, constructions and modifications, through determination. His work connects with consequences of the most essential social attitudes, in relation to how spaces are inhabited and the residues left by this inhabiting; fluids, spills, stains, lines or drawings that, close to invisibility, permanently coexist with us.

His work has been exhibited in institutions and galleries such as: EACC (Castellón), IVAM Museum (Valencia), CCCC (Valencia), Centro Párraga (Murcia), Maus Contemporary (Alabama), MUA (Alicante) and Juan March Foundation (Spain), to mention the most relevant. His work can be found in important collections such as; Martinez Lloret Collection (Alicante), Michel Jolivet Collection (Lyon), SCAN (London), Related Group Collection (Miami), DKV Collection, Kells Collection (Santander), Generalitat Valenciana de Cultura, Pietro Molina Collection (Italy), Banco Sabadell Collection (Spain), Mariano Yera Collection (Spain) and Von Schulthess Collection (Switzerland), among others.

He has received many awards, including the Guasch Coranty Foundation Award (2023); Obra Abierta IX Award from the Caja Extremadura Foundation (2022); VEGAP Proposals 2022; Isabel Comenge Biennial of Painting (2020); OpenStudio-Arte Lateral (2020), Cultura Online-CCCC Grant (2020); Miquel Navarro Biennial of Public Art (2020), Best Exhibition Abierto Valencia (2019); Senyera Award (2013); as well as various acquisitions in calls between 2006 and 2020. He is currently preparing an important solo exhibition at Museo de la Ciudad, Valencia; including the presentation of a book compiling his last 10 years of work
