The gallery Luis Adelantado Valencia presents for the first time in this city, the individual exhibitions of the artists Juan López and Carlos Maciá under the title Brea Flúor. A single title that deliberately frames both proposals created specifically for the gallery space and which is the consequence of a montage that confronts the two works.
In both cases the artists present spatial interventions that emphasise certain singularities of the urban context, brought against the architecture of the gallery itself.
On this occasion, Juan López is preparing a specific intervention for room one of the gallery, where the urban becomes part of the interior of the exhibition space. Interested in the lines that delimit and delimit the spaces of circulation in the city, he proposes a deconstruction of the real in order to create new points of view on the established. This work in situ will be complemented by a series of collages and sculptural elements in room four of the gallery, which function as sketches of impossible interventions, or perhaps not so much.
Carlos Maciá presents three interventions. The first one takes us back to his recent approach to the Pichaçao. An original manifestation of the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo where the artist discovers this drastic phagocytization of urban space and which he here accommodates for room two. For the next room, he proposes a group of pieces belonging to his Markers series that function and are articulated as a single large piece, a consequence of the association produced between them in his own work space. And finally, he makes a minimal pictorial intervention on the entire railing that runs along the stairs of the building, accompanying us and thus generating a link between the different proposals.
