Jardín Oculto

Luis Adelantado Valencia is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of the Sevillian artist Concha Ybarra in Valencia; Jardín oculto.
Concha presents a proposal for an installation in which painting, drawing and ceramics are brought together with the aim of capturing this Jardín oculto. A term that the artist relates to an emotional interior, which alludes to the organic character of the ideas, which she captures in cellular forms with illusory lines. These are works with subtle limits, and a very energetic chromatic richness, which can be found in her canvases and papers, as well as in her ceramics.
Although her work is based on the intimate – on ideas that flow bordering on the dreamlike – there is a strong root that links her to the land, to the place where Concha has developed her career, Seville. In fact, the title Jardín oculto (Hidden Garden) has a further meaning, which refers to those magnificent spaces of abundance that are outlined in the private areas of some Andalusian stately homes.
The garden as a place of recollection, meditation and passions, as an area of intimacy and absolute freedom. Concha defines, from a contemporary perspective, a series of spaces sprinkled with poetry, like the gardens described by Federico García Lorca in his publication Impresiones y paisajes, which came out at the beginning of the 20th century.
